At Ilkeston Tuition Centre, we believe tutoring should be rewarding, supportive and genuinely enjoyable.
If you’re looking for flexible, part-time work that fits around other commitments, you’ll feel right at home here. Our tutors get the time and space to work closely with individual children, building confidence and seeing real progress – not just rushing through lessons.
You’ll be part of a friendly, welcoming team that cares about doing things properly, supporting each other, and creating a calm, positive environment for both tutors and students. We focus on quality over quantity, so you can teach in a way that feels meaningful and manageable.
We’ll share current tutoring vacancies on this page as they become available. If there aren’t any roles listed right now but you’re still interested in working with us, you’re very welcome to send your CV to ilkestontuitioncentre@gmail.com and we’ll be in touch if a suitable opportunity comes up.
With over 35 years of teaching experience - from Primary teacher to Deputy Head and now tutor - I love working in small groups where I can really get to know each learner and understand their needs. The best part? Watching a student’s confidence grow and knowing they’re building skills for life.
I’ve been teaching Maths in secondary schools for over 30 years, with some Physics along the way. I prefer small groups, where extra support and interventions help students make real progress - something that’s harder in larger classes. There’s nothing better than seeing students crack a concept they once found difficult and go on to hit their predicted grades.
I’ve been a fully qualified teacher for over 30 years, and after more than 20 years in mainstream education, I moved into after-school tuition. I have extensive experience in KS2 and KS3, as well as KS1, KS4, SEN, and LAC. Helping children reach their learning goals with patience and understanding is what drives me, especially when that lightbulb moment arrives and they say, “I get it!”
I have 39 years of experience teaching in the FE sector, delivering qualifications including GCSE, A Level and Functional Skills. My specialism is English Language and I take great pride in seeing learners develop their skills and achieve qualifications that will benefit them for life.
I have 33 years of secondary English teaching experience in both schools and the FE sector. I enjoy small groups and 1-to-1 sessions, where I can answer questions in real time and make sure every learner leaves with clarity. For me, the real joy comes from the connections and trust built along the way.
I’ve been a Primary Teacher for over 20 years, including 15 in International Schools. I specialise in Primary English, Maths, EAL, and I’m a certified Dyslexia Specialist. I currently tutor children in alternate provision and those needing extra support. What I value most is helping students re-engage with learning, build their confidence and giving each child the focused attention they need to thrive.
